Five Sisseton Boys place at State B Wrestling; Hawkins brings home State B Championship

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Wrestling Team brought home sixth place at the State B Wrestling Tournament held in Sioux Falls Feb. 26-28, with five Redmen wrestlers placing.

Sisseton’s Holden Hawkins accomplished something no other Redmen wrestler ever has by claiming a state champion-ship two times.

The Sisseton Redmen Girls competed at the State Wrestling Tournament in Sioux Falls Feb. 26-28 -- Clara Iverson at 100 lbs., Isabella Current at 110 lbs., and Maryann Rice at 155 lbs. Vi Anderson also qualified for the State Tournament but was unable to wrestle due to a shoulder injury. Sisseton Girls fall to No. 1 Hamlin in SoDak 16

The Sisseton Redmen Girls Basketball Team took on the Hamlin Chargers at the SoDak 16 for a chance to go to State A, falling to the Chargers 40-60 in the game held at the Watertown Civic Arena on Thursday, Mar. 5.

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Wrestling Team had seven wrestlers qualify for the State B Tournament at the Region 1B Meet held in Webster on Saturday, Feb. 21. The State B Tournament, scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 26-28, was underway in Sioux Falls at press time.

The Sisseton Redmen Girls Basketball Team moved on to the second round of the Region 1A Tournament with a 70-35 victory over the Webster Area Bearcats on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Sisseton.

Sisseton Boys earn hard fought victory over Deuel

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Basketball Team scored a hard fought victory over the Deuel Cardinals 56-43 on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Ben Reifel Gym in Sisseton.

Deuel jumped out to a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sisseton outscored Deuel 20-13 in the second quarter to tie the game up 29-29 at halftime. Sisseton outscored Deuel 27-14 in the second half to bring home the victory.
