Sisseton Redmen fall to Vermillion Tanagers

The Sisseton Redmen girls basketball team took on the Vermillion Tanagers in the semifinals of the Class A Girls Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Dacotah Bank Center in Brookings. The Tanagers defeated the Redmen 50-47 in a physical matchup.

The Sisseton Area Strikers Basketball Team competed in the Special Olympics South Dakota Northeast Area Basketball Tournament in Hayti on Friday, Feb. 16. The strikers defeated Aberdeen GE Gold Team and lost to Aberdeen GE Blue. The top seeded Class A Sisseton Redmen Girls Basketball Team will move on to the State A Tournament with their 63-52 SoDak 16 victory over the Tri-Valley Mustangs at the Watertown Civic Arena on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Milbank ends Sisseton Boys Basketball season at Regions

The Milbank Bulldogs ended the season for the Sisseton Redmen Boys Basketball Team with a 57-32 win in the Region 1A Tournament held in Milbank on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Milbank took a 11-6 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead to 23-15 at half-time. Milbank took control in the third quarter, outscoring Sisseton 18-6 to cruise to a 57-32 finish. The Tiospa Zina Wambdi moved on in the Region 1A Tournament with a 71-53 first round victory over the Webster Bearcats on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Milbank.

Tiospa Zina advanced to play the Milbank Bulldogs on Friday, Mar. 1, in Milbank. The two teams faced off the week before, with Milbank coming out on top 57-55, so Tiospa Zina was looking for a reversal. The winner moves on to the SoDak 16.
