Sisseton Area Women’s Connection will be meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Assembly of God Family Life Center, W. Hwy 10, Sisseton, at 9:30 a.m. Coffee and snack will be provided. There is a small cost.

Grace Lutheran Presents Quilts to YouthWorks Staff

Grace Lutheran Church recently presented quilts to YouthWorks staff members (left to right) Guiliana Lapiana, Katrena Ryan and Kaitlyn Shook. The ladies are the site leaders of YouthWorks and have been staying at Grace Lutheran since late May. They organized approximately 450 kids and youth leaders this summer in weekly community service projects in the area. Names released in Roberts County fatal crash

A pedestrian walking along SD Highway 123 died after being struck by a vehicle near Wilmot, SD, early Sunday morning, July 28, 2024.

Preliminary crash information indicates Darius C. Small, a 20-year-old male, was walking in the southbound lane of SD Highway 123 early Sunday morning when he was struck by Alyssa J. Feather, the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, also in the southbound lane. Feather was taken into custody for DUI and has other charges pending.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

Roberts County 4-H Achievement Days set for August 5-7

Roberts County 4-H Achievement Days will be held Monday-Wednesday, Aug. 5-7, at the Roberts County 4-H Grounds, Sisseton.

The Dog Show will take place on Monday, Aug. 5, at 5:00 p.m. on the west side of the West Quonset.

Static Exhibits will be open for public viewing from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, and from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the 4-H Building.

Eddie’s Sculptures

In conjunction with the Art Alley Gallery, Eddie’s Sculptures art exhibit will be on display in the First Savings Bank lobby until mid-August. Artist Eddie Halbert is displaying several of his recent wood sculptures. The public is invited to stop into the lobby during banking hours to view this exhibit. Eddie’s outdoor studio is located at Tri State Lumber in Sisseton where he works on his sculptures and has more sculptures on display. ~ Courtesy Photo

Bestselling author speaks at SHS alumni reunion

Fifty years ago, 85 seniors walked across the stage to receive their diplomas, and during the 2024 alumni reunion weekend, 35 of them returned to their alma mater. Among those was Pam (Miller) Withers, award-winning author of 26 young adult novels, 23 of which were best-sellers. She was asked to give the alumni banquet address for the Class of 1974.

157th Annual SWO Wacipi

The 157th Annual Sisseton-Wahpeton Wacipi was held Friday-Sunday, July 5-7, 2024, at the Pow-Wow grounds at Agency Village, south of Sisseton. This annual gathering of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, traditionally held over the Fourth of July weekend, included a Grand Entry on Friday night, July 5, at 7:00 p.m., with an Honor Guard leading the way and dancers in full, colorful regalia.
