Sisseton Food Pantry Open Nov. 6 and 20

The Sisseton Ministerial Food Pantry will be open from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the following dates:

• Thursday, Nov. 6, hosted by Grace Lutheran Church

•Thursday, Nov. 20, hosted by Emanuel Lutheran Church 

The Food Pantry is located in Sisseton on the corner of First Avenue West and Maple Street, west of Baus Oil.

Holland Foundation transfers funds to Sisseton Area Community Foundation

A couple with a deep commitment to community service in Sisseton left a legacy for the Sisseton area that has benefitted numerous local organizations for more than 40 years. Earlier this year all funds from the William J. Holland and Alyce I. Holland Foundation were transferred to a sub-fund within the Sisseton Area Community Foundation and will continue to carry out the Holland’s desire to give back to their community for decades to come.

Movies of Hope to show ‘Pilgrim's Progress’

On Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, Movies of Hope will be showing the film, PILGRIM'S PROGRESS: JOURNEY TO HEAVEN. The movie is an allegory about the faith journey we are all on. Almost anyone can find a character in the movie they can identify with. The story upon which the movie is based was originally written in 1675 by John Bunyan, an English writer and preacher. The book has been translated into more than 200 languages and has never been out of print. Some say the book is second only to the Bible in the number of readers and lives that have been changed by it.

American Legion Auxiliary hosts National President

On Sunday, October 12, more than 50 American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) members from District 5 gathered at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for their annual meeting, hosted this year by Sisseton. The meeting included a presentation by ALA National President Pam Ray, the first time a national president has attended.

The SWO Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) Program is promoting National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which is taking place Saturday, Oct. 25. The intent of this Day is to provide safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
