Names released in Marshall Co. fatal crash

Names have been released of the two people who died Monday morning, Dec. 23, in a one-vehicle crash four miles north and five miles west of Veblen.  A 2004 Chevrolet Impala was westbound on 101st Street, which is a gravel road, when the driver lost control. The vehicle went into the ditch and hit a tree. The 17-year-old female passenger, Samantha Shortman of Rosholt, SD, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-yearold male driver, Bishop Swallow of Nemo, SD, died while being flown to a Sioux Falls hospital. Both occupants were wearing seat belts. South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
