Unofficial Sisseton School Board Election results are in
Unofficial results of the 2026 Sisseton School Board Election on Tuesday, June 2, are in, with several newcomers winning the race for the four open seats on the board.
Six candidates were on the ballot to fill the three three-year terms that were up, with incumbent Lenny Wegener and newcomers Matt Peterson and Aaron Rolstad garnering the votes needed for a win. Wegener had the most votes with 558, followed by Matt Peterson with 465 and Aaron Rolstad with 334. Unsuccessful candidates included current board members Carla Anderson (323) and Jaime Donnell (296), as well as Jennifer Pelzel (312), who was running for the first time.
Two candidates ran for the one year term, with Ryan Hellwig successfully winning over Laura Nielsen by a vote of 385 to 365. Both were running for the board for the first time.
The Sisseton School Board is comprised of nine members. Other members still serving out terms on the board include William Rice, Woody Hawkins, Amanda Nigg, Lundee Stadtler and Samantha Stickland.
