NRCS grant provides funding for conservation practices

The Roberts County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is the recent recipient of a $2.4 million grant making it possible to provide financial and technical conservation assistance to farmers, ranchers, and other landowners whose land is impacting, or being impacted by, a nearby lake, stream, river, or other body of water. The program aims to benefit both the land- owner and the quality of nearby water.

The project focuses on the glacial lakes and streams in northeast South Dakota, including the counties of Day, Deuel, Grant, Marshall and Roberts. Its goal is to improve water quality where necessary, and to maintain the quality of lakes and streams that are not yet impaired.
