GSI to hold public discussion on future of the former Stavig Department Store

The Greater Sisseton Initiative (GSI) will have a public discussion about the future of the former Stavig department store on Saturday morning, Oct. 30, 2021. It will be held at the Thollehaug Commons (former old middle school) starting at 10:00 a.m.

GSI purchased the building in 2017 for the purpose of holding the building for public use. A number of ideas have been expressed about its potential use. Now is the opportunity for the public to express their ideas. It is also the time to see if there is a commitment to make use of the building on Main Street. A new entity to own and operate the building needs to be developed, because GSI never intended to operate the building for nonprofit use or private use.
