Roadways Under Water Several roads in the Sisseton area were under water, such as shown in this picture taken Thursday, Apr. 13, north of the Dakota Connection Casino near Bobby and Becky Hanson’s.

A rapid spring thaw following large amounts of late winter and early spring snow has led to flooding in many areas of northeastern South Dakota, including Roberts County.

Travel has been affected, as excessive water levels have caused some roads to buckle and others to wash out, and many gravel roads are extremely muddy even if passable, leading to closed roads and No Travel Advisories over the past week. BIA, County, and Township Roads all encountered these issues, with some difficulties lasting longer than others.
