Blizzard Wreaks Havoc on Roadways The first major winter storm of the season made travel difficult the entire week of Dec. 12-17, resulting in jack-knifed semis along with numerous other stranded trav- elers. The weather was entirely uncooperative, causing numerous accidents throughout the county during the days from Monday night, Dec. 12, through Saturday and even Sunday, Dec. 18. The Sisseton School District cancelled in-school instruction and switched to disance learning from Tuesday through Friday.

On Monday, with temperatures hovering just above freezing, rain slicked up the roads before the setting sun brought a temperature drop, and the precipitation turned to snow. Ice as a base for the snow, black ice, drifting snow, and white- out conditions set up dangerous driving conditions throughout the week.
