BDM Rural Water Updates: Looking towards the future

BDM Rural Water is going through some growing pains. “Every year we have new hook-ups and our customer base keeps needing more water, and that’s a good thing,” said BDM Manager Rod Kappes. “The fortunate thing is that we’re growing. We’ve come a long way in the last five years.”

Kappes said that the water system averages 25-35 new hook-ups annually.

“We’re fortunate in this system with the lakes area that has shown a lot of growth. We also have producers who didn’t hook up years ago and all of a sudden have a well go down, and they discover that the costs to drill and maintain a well have gone up significantly.
