Sisseton Girls advance to winners bracket at State with win over Mt. Vernon/Plankinton

The No. 1 ranked Sisseton Redmen Girls Basketball Team moved on to the semi-finals of the Girls State A Basketball Tournament with a 57-47 win over the Mount Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Thursday, Mar. 7, in Brookings.

Both teams came out of the gate a little shaky, with Sisseton taking a 14-13 lead by the end of the first quarter. The nerves were still there in the second quarter, but two big three-point baskets by Ruby Rice gave Sisseton a 23-21 lead at halftime. Sisseton came out in the third quarter with another three-pointer by Rice and were off to the races, outscoring the Titans 21-11 in the third quarter to take a 44-32 lead at the end of three. The teams traded baskets back and forth, with Sisseton coming out on top 57-47.
