Redmen Volleyball team loses opener to Northwestern

The Sisseton Redmen Volleyball team lost its opening match 0-3 to the fourth ranked Class B Northwestern Wildcats in Mellette on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Leading the way for the Redmen was Amanda Reinart with 5 kills and 4 blocks. MaKenzy Frederick had 2 service aces and 17 digs, and Cami Goodhart had 9 assists.
Northwestern was led by Josie Clemens’ 30-34 spiking with 15 kills, 11-13 serving with 2 aces, and 28 digs. Addi Sparling went 9-10 serving with 2 aces, 19-27 spiking with 8 kills, and had 22 digs. Kaylee Hoellein was 14-16 spiking with 9 kills, Peyton Groft 13-13 setting with 7 assists and 29 digs, and Darby Duncan 83-83 setting with 28 assists.
Northwestern won the B match 2-0.
Sisseton will have their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 1, against Wheaton Area, and another home game on Thursday, Sept. 3, against Webster Area, with B teams starting at 6:00 p.m.

Redmen Golf team places second at NEC in Milbank

The Sisseton Redmen Golf team traveled to Milbank on Thursday, Aug. 27, to play in the NEC tourney at Pine Hills Golf Course, with the Redmen taking second behind the Roncalli Cavaliers.
Gabe Heller of Roncalli won the individual title, shooting a 72 and winning by 10 shots over teammate Lucas Shaefbauer, who placed second shooting an 82.
Nate Nielsen took fourth place shooting an 85 to pace the Redmen. Carsten Archer shot an 89 to take sixth place. Hunter Ryan and Mitch Hansen took tenth and eleventh place, shooting 91 and 92 respectively. Blake Nielsen shot a 102.
Sisseton will play in Aberdeen on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and will host the Sisseton Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
