Golf team places second in NEC
The Sisseton boys golf team placed second at the NEC Tourney in Groton on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Sisseton placed four golfers in the top 15 in the NEC tourney, shooting a team score of 339. Carsten Archer placed third shooting a 79. Nate Nielsen shot 83 taking fifth, Ethan Kranhold shot 88 placing tenth, and Hunter Ryan shot 89 placing eleventh. Mitch Hanson tied for 17th shooting 94.
Aberdeen Roncalli won the tourney shooting a team score of 318. Keaton Deiter was the medalist shooting a 73.
Other teams competing were Redfield, Milbank and Groton.
The golf team will compete in Aberdeen on Tuesday, Sept. 9, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Sisseton golfers travel to Aberdeen
The Sisseton Redmen Boys Golf team traveled to Aberdeen on Tuesday, Sept. 2, to play in the Aberdeen Invite, with Pierre winning the tourney. Sisseton placed seventh.
Aberdeen Central, Roncalli, Watertown, Milbank, Huron, Sisseton, Mobridge-Pollock and Groton were also at the meet.
Ethan Kranhold was the top performer for the Redmen, placing 22nd shooting an 87. Nate Nielsen placed 29th shooting a 93. Hunter Ryan shot 94 placing 35th, Carsten Archer shot 94 placing 37th, Mitch Hansen placed 45th shooting a 100, and Conner Bartz shot 120 placing 54th.
Conner Preston of Aberdeen Central was the medalist, shooting a 74.
Cross Country teams open season in Britton
The Sisseton Redmen Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to Britton to participate in the Britton-Hecla Invitational meet on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with Makayla Zirbel of Summit winning the girls and Brandon Barrett of Britton-Hecla winning the boys.
Mia Estwick placed 14th to pace the Redmen girls. Katie Christopherson placed 17th, Cassie Haubris placed 20th, Jerrica Donnell placed 22nd, Morgan Janisch placed 23rd, Miranda Nelson placed 24th, and Maegan Seiber placed 27th.
Michael Nieland paved the way for the Redmen boys, placing 7th, and Kevin Huber placed 22nd.
The next Cross Country meet will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, in Milbank at 9:30 a.m.
Cross Country team travels to Milbank
The Sisseton Redmen Cross Country team traveled to Milbank to compete in the Milbank Breathe Easy Meet on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Isabel Litzen of Aberdeen Roncalli won the girls division, and Cole Sargent of Miller won the boys.
Mia Estwick took 17th place to pace the Redmen girls. Cassie Haubris took 28th, Jerrica Donnell took 29th, and Morgan Janisch placed 30th.
Michael Nieland was tops for the Redmen boys, placing 23rd, and Kevin Huber took 43rd.
SHS Volleyball falls short in first match
The Sisseton Volleyball team suffered a loss to the Wheaton on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 9-25, 16-25, and 17-25. No other stats were available.
The Volleyball team also played an away match with Webster on Thursday, Sept. 4. No stats were available at press time.
Sisseton opens season with a win
The Sisseton Redmen football team opened up the season with a 24-6 victory over the Milbank Area Bulldogs on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Sisseton Athletic Complex. Click here for rest of the story...
