Sisseton golfers compete at Madison
The Sisseton Golf team traveled to Madison on Monday, Sept. 15, bringing home eleventh place (390), with Aberdeen Roncalli winning the tournament shooting a team score of 341.
Individually for the Redmen, Nate Nielsen led the way shooting a 92 and taking 25th place. Carsten Archer shot 93 placing 29, Ethan Kranhold shot 99 taking 50th, Logan Grimm shot 106 placing 64th, Gunner Thoreson shot 111 taking 70th, and Adam Schubert shot 124 taking 76.
Seventeen teams participated in the tourney including Aberdeen Roncalli, Dell Rapids, Brookings, Canton, Madison Gold, Sioux Falls Christian, Milbank, Tea, Sioux Valley, West Central, Sisseton, Groton, Lennox, Tri-Valley, Redfield-Doland, Madison Maroon and Madison Xtreme.
Sisseton Cross Country travels to Milbank
The Sisseton Cross Country team traveled to Milbank on Saturday, Sept. 13, to run in the Hardee’s Invitational, with Michael Nieland of Sisseton taking 41st place with a time of 19:44.48.
Kurt TeBeest of Monte-video, MN won the meet in a time of 17:07.85.
Mitch Hansen wins Groton Invite
Sisseton’s Mitch Hansen won the Groton Invite on Saturday, Sept. 13, shooting an 86 (45 and 41) at the Groton Country Club.
Carsten Archer placed fifth, shooting an 89 (41 and 48). Nate Nielsen shot a 93, Ethan Kranhold shot 102, Logan Grimm shot 104, and Gunnar Thoreson shot 114.
The Boys Golf team will travel to Watertown on Monday, Sept. 22, and will host the Sisseton Invite on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Valley View Golf Course at 10:00 a.m.
Redmen go 3-0 at Lennox Volleyball Tourney

Redmen comeback falls short
The Sisseton Redmen Volleyball team traveled to Milbank on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and lost an exciting match with Sisseton trying to recover from a 0-2 deficit.
Milbank won the first two games 25-19 and 26-24 with the Redmen making a comeback by winning the next two games 28-26 and 25-19 before losing a heartbreaker 13-15.
Emily Weatherstone led the way for the Redmen with 20 kills on 48 attempts, 2 blocks, and 14-16 serving with 1 ace. Brianna Medenwald added 12 kills of 25 attempts and 4 blocks. Cami Goodhart went 118/120 setting with 40 assists, Abby Drew went 14/16 serving with 3 aces, and Makenzy Frederick had 16 digs.
Brittany Ackerman had a big night for Milbank having 21 kills on 66 attempts, going 13-14 serving with 3 aces, and getting 23 digs. Caryssa Mielitz had 14 kills on 70 attempts, 14-16 serving with 5 aces, and 18 digs. Kaley Withers had 7 kills on 20 attempts, Katie Cannedy went 17-17 serving with 4 aces, Mikaela Hoeke went 145-146 setting with 40 assists.
Sisseton’s JV won 2-1 with the C teams tied 1-1 and 1 tie.
Sisseton will travel to Hamlin on Thursday, Sept. 25, and will go to the Tea Area Tourney on Saturday, Sept. 27 starting at 10:00 a.m.
