Sisseton advances to Region 1A game

The Sisseton Redmen boys basketball team went to Milbank on Thursday, Feb. 28, to play for the District Championship against Milbank, with Sisseton coming out victorious 50-46 in overtime.
Sisseton had a slim lead at the end of the first quarter, 11-10. The Redmen held Milbank to two points in the second quarter to take a 20-12 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Sisseton outscored Milbank 11-9 to take a 31-21 lead into the fourth. Milbank turned on the defense and held Sisseton to only eight points in the fourth quarter, while Milbank scored 18 to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, Sisseton outscored Milbank 11-7 to bring home the District 2A Championship.
Wyatt Youngblom scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the way for the Redmen. Jordan Cornelius added 19 points, four rebounds, five assists and one steal.
Isaac Lindquist had 22 points and 13 rebounds to pace Milbank. Ben Forrette connected for 15 points, and had seven rebounds and three steals.
Sisseton will play Aberdeen Roncalli on Tuesday, Mar. 5, at Webster at 7:00 p.m. for the Region Championship.
