Sisseton boys make the Sweet 16

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Basketball Team advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 51-44 victory over the Milbank Bulldogs on the final night of Region 1A on Thursday, Mar. 2, in Webster.
Benji Thompson had 14 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal to lead the way for the Redmen. DJ White connected for 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Dion Iyarpeya added 8 points and 3 steals in the winning effort.
Cody Dockter had 13 points and 2 steals to set the pace for the Bulldogs. Jonny Ash chipped in with 9 points and 5 rebounds, and Nathan Bien grabbed 8 rebounds and scored 4 points.
The Redmen will take on Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday, Mar. 7, at the Swiftel Center in Brookings at 7:00 p.m. Clark/Willow Lake will play Tri-Valley at 5:00 p.m. just before the Sisseton vs. Sioux Falls Christian game.
Two teams from each of the eight Regions advanced to the statewide Sweet 16 to be played in several locations on Mar. 7. The eight winners of the Sweet 16 games will advance to the State A Tournament. Also advancing from Region 1A was Aberdeen Roncalli, who will take on Rapid City’s St. Thomas More at Pierre for their Sweet 16 game.
