Sisseton boys advance to Region Championship

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Basketball team defeated the Britton/Hecla Braves 51-46 in the Region 1A semi-finals in Groton on Thursday, Mar. 3, to advance to the championship game against the defending State A Champion Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers.
The Redmen built a 16 point halftime lead and held off the Britton/Hecla comeback to grab a 51-46 victory.
Ethan Kranhold tossed in 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the Redmen. Kranhold had nine second quarter points to help the Redmen build a double-digit lead. Hunter Medenwald added 12 points in the victory. Benji Thompson had 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Thompson made 4 big free throws in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
Eric Wegleitner finished with 18 points for the Braves. Jared Rabenberg connected for 12 points, including 8 points in the fourth quarter to help the Braves close the gap.
The Redmen will take on the defending State A Champion Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers in the Region 1A Championship on Tuesday, Mar. 8, at 7:00 p.m. in Groton.
